2022 Round Up Student Orientation News Banner

Welcome new Roosevelt families & existing Rough Riders,

Our staff is busy preparing for an exciting school year and look forward lo seeing everyone in August. We wilt be hosting an "in-person" Round Up for all parents and students on Friday. July 291h. Modesto City Schools Round Up provides families opportunities to complete and update necessary beginning of the year registration, ask questions, learn about student activities and parent involvement opportunities.

New to MCS? Please help Roosevelt meet our District goal of collecting an application from every family by completing the online application on or before Round Up on July 29th. Please click here to view and fill out the application.

If your child attended a school in MCS last year you do not need to complete a new
application. If you have questions we will have staff available to assist parents in completing the application during Round Up.

During Round Up, students will have an opportunity to:

  1. Receive their schedules, after which participate in a tour of the school, so they will know where their classes are on the first day of school.
  2. Purchase optional limited liability coverage to protect their device from damage or loss ($20).
  3. Purchase P.E clothes ($20)
  4. Purchase a yearbook ($40 special Round Up price)
  5. Take school pictures.

It is very important for your child's transition into 7th grade that he/she attends this event and arrives at their designated time. The whole event will take approximately 45 minutes based on the schedule above. While students participate in tours of the school, parents will have the opportunity to make purchases and check out our informational booths. Just as a
reminder, all 7th grade students are  required to have their TDAP immunization prior to the first day of school. Students will not  receive their schedules at Round Up unless the school nurse has received verification that the child has received this immunization.

Roosevelt has expanded its academic schedule to meet student needs. As a result, some students will have a schedule with periods zero through seven. Schedule changes will not be authorized before school begins unless the schedule is  missing classes or there is a significant error. Teachers will be checking academic levels during the first two weeks of school and will recommend changes as needed. Academic learning is our first scheduling priority.

Students who are not able to attend Round Up will receive their schedule and materials once they arrive to Roosevelt on the first day of school on August 8th. If your child is unable to take school pictures at Round Up there will be a picture makeup day at the end of August. Please check out our website at roosevelt.mcs4kids.com and follow us @rjhs1951 on lnstagram for updates  throughout the summer. We are looking forward lo working with you! Have a great rest of your summer!

Sincerely,
